Red Puppy Bikkie Day 4 July
Red Puppy Bikkie Day 4 July

Guide dogs act as the eyes for many New Zealanders who are blind or have low vision. They provide freedom, confidence, companionship and independence and many people would not be able to live life to the full without a guide dog by their side.
There are many ways you can support guide dogs, either by fundraising, volunteering ordonating. The breeding and training of our four-legged heroes simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of the public.

Guide Dog Puppy eBook

One of our very creative bikkie bakers made this Red Puppy eBook for her class. We loved it so much we thought we'd share it with you. Enjoy!

Red Puppy Bikkie Day takes place on Monday 4 July 2016 and we are looking for individuals, schools and businesses to bake and sell puppy-shaped biscuits to help breed and train guide dog puppies.

• A class could bake the bikkies as a project and then sell them to other students or parents for a donation.

• Hold an afternoon tea or bikkie stall when parents come to collect their children.
• Hold a best decorated competition – the children will have heaps of fun decorating their bikkies.
• For younger children, you could make and decorate salt dough puppy shapes and sell them for a donation.

Guide Dog Puppy Profile: Pippin

Pippin was one of five puppies born on 4 March this year. Pippin had a busy time at the Guide Dog Centre, learning all his first steps with his brothers and sisters before heading off with his puppy walker (one of our volunteers). He will stay with his puppy walking family for up to a year before returning to the Guide Dog Centre for formal training. Pippin’s family will take him everywhere they go to help introduce him to the situations he’ll face as a guide dog.
